Little boy, I’m going to write
Whilst watching you at Play,
Some rules of life that you will need
To see you through each day.
These things Iv’e learnt throughout my time
Making mistakes most of the years,
Not taking advice from others
Which usually ended in tears.
But this is part of the learning curve
as you progress through your life,
And if I can pass this on to you
I may help to save you strife.
Never lie to friend or foe
Because there is no doubt,
When you think it’s all forgotten,
You will suddenly be found out!
Be fair to everybody
And never stoop to cheat,
Cheaters never win at all.
They end up getting beat.
Look every one in the eye
and listen to what they say,
Stand up straight and compromise,
You won’t always get your way!
Be honest and true to those you love
And hold them close to your heart,
Because one day -some time in your life,
Your going to have to part.
